DABUS is an AI created by Stephen Thaler that has apparently devised two inventions. In a webinar, Ryan Abbott mentioned he was looking to file the application in as many countries as possible -- Pipers volunteered to do the work for New Zealand. I produced a statutory declaration with a brief history of AI, outlining some achievements of AI (basically illustrating that inventorship is within the bounds of possibility).
The 2021 America's Cup was notable for its sci-fi ship design, the AC-75. Millions of dollars went into designing it. However, as it turned out, a Brazilian company already had already patented a yacht with an identical canting hydrofoil system.

I am currently working on building a library of assets for patent drawings. Instead of continually re-creating the same assets for patent drawings, I realised it would be far more efficient to collect these graphics in a single (searchable) repository. The website is built with ReactJS.
When I was studying chemistry at university, I was constantly annoyed that there were no tools out there that let you query the periodic table. So I built one. This is a searchable periodic table I developed during 2020 (mostly under Covid lockdown). Elements are searchable by name, symbol, atomic number, category, property, or discovery date.
Antarctica is a fascinating place. I was amazed to discover one day that the domain name "historyofantarctica.com" was available. I snapped it up and built an accompanying static website.
In my third year of university, I produced a weekly comic strip for Salient.
At the end of the year, I built
a website to archive this work.
The website has been continuously updated and now hosts various other
cartoons I've done since then.
As I went back to university for part-time study, I continued the comic strip in Craccum (2022).
It's now published in Wild Things,
the junior Forest and Bird magazine.
SLIC NZ started as a student project for a young entrepeneur competition. As part of that competition, they wanted an Andriod app built for their new company. Having never done mobile app development before, I decided to have a crack with my friend Scott. It turned out to be pretty easy. The students ended up winning their competition.
